CIA- Solar Geysers and Energy Saving Installations
In the following newsletter we are going to look at the implications of solar and other energy saving installations in relation to the insurance policy of a body corporate.
Although most insurance policies provide cover for electric geysers, very few of them automatically cover solar geysers/ heat pumps and the like.
Our policies do cover solar geysers/ heat pumps and the like, however as with most other policies, there is a maximum amount we will pay for the replacement of a geyser.
These limits are based on electrical geysers.
These limits (be it for an electrical geyser or a solar geyser / heat pump) can be increased to any chosen sum insured at an additional premium. This is especially important for solar and other installations.
If a complex decides to replace electric geysers with a solar installation, gas water heaters, heat pumps or hybrid solar systems these standard geyser limits must be increased to the total replacement cost of such an installation.
