VKNFS MOTOR CLAIMS PROCEDURE

VKN Financial Services pride ourselves on our claims service.

Claims are the mirror of our service delivery.  They reflect and provide the ultimate test ofour service level to our clients and play an essential role in the fulfillment of our mission statement.

1. Here are some guidelines to assist you in ensuring that your motor claims process runs smoothly and effectively.

  • Should you be involved in an accident, VKNFS must be notified within a reasonable period of time. Furthermore, we still need to be informed, even if your vehicle/s have not sustained any damages.
  • Under no circumstance should any persons admit or accept liability.
  • In the event of a motor accident, the following information must be recorded at the accident scene:SAIPA 333SAIPA 111
  • Name, address and telephone number of the driver’s vehicles involved including make and registration number of the other vehicle.
  • If third party vehicles are company owned, details of the company must be obtained.
  • Names, addresses and telephone numbers of all witnesses.
  • A motor accident claim form needs to be completed, and if need be, VKNFS will assist in the completion of the claim form (note, in accordance with the FAIS regulation- the insured is responsible for completing the claim form), the claim form then needs to be forwarded to VKNFS together with a clear and enlarged copy of the driver’s licence and ID as well as a quote (should your vehicle sustain damages).
  • Please note no claim can be registered and processed without a clear copy of the driver’s licence.
  • Please ensure the accident is reported to the police within 24 hours.
  • Once all the requested documentation is received, an assessor will be appointed to assess the damages to the vehicle.
  • Should the damage of the vehicle exceed 70{f92ed3c07130d1d1f7afdfa9419415a96097991b3cd0130fcc5c47b28583da4c} of the current retail value, Insurers may declare the vehicle un-economical to repair. Insurers will then request for the original registration certificate together with 2 x signed change of ownership forms to be submitted. The relevant documents together with the keys (and spare) need to be submitted to VKNFS. Insurers will pay out as per the retail value at the time of loss, less the applicable excess/es.  If the vehicle is subject to a finance agreement, Insurers will pay out the financial institute first, and should there be a balance, insurers will pay out the client.
  • In the event a vehicle is un-economical to repair, Insurers will arrange for the vehicle to be uplifted. Should the insured wish to buy the vehicle (damaged) back, you should contact the relevant salvage contractor appointed by Insurers.

2. In the event of theft of a motor vehicle:

SAIPA 444

  • A theft case needs to be opened at your nearest police station within 24 hours.
  • A motor theft claim form needs to be completed and forwarded to VKNFS together with a clear copy of the driver’s license and ID as well as the keys and original de-registration certificate.
  • Should the vehicle be under bank finance, it is the duty of the insured to arrange the de-registration of the vehicle and forward the original copy as well as the keys to VKNFS.
  • Please note an assessor will contact the insured within 24 hours to arrange an interview and investigate further.

3. PLEASE NOTE A CLAIM FORM DOES NOT HAVE TO BE COMPLETED FOR THIS ASPECT

  • Insurer’s deal with the under mentioned glass suppliers, PG Glass, Novus, National Auto Glass, Glasfit
  • The insured may take the vehicle to any of the above mentioned windscreen specialists, and supply them with VKNFS contact details, and we will authorize the claim over the telephone.
  • The insured must take all reasonable precautions to prevent accidents, so as to ensure that the risk accepted by insurers does not increase.
  • All vehicles must be maintained in a roadworthy condition.
  • All drivers must be in possession of a valid driver’s licence. Should the driver be involved in an accident and the driver’s license is expired/endorsed/suspended, it becomes very problematic to settle the claim.
  • A driver’s statement should be clear and is essential to determine liability, which will assist Insurers in a recovery action.
  • It is essentially important that the claim be reported within a reasonable period of time. If Insurers interests’ are prejudiced by late notification, they can and often will repudiate the claim.
