Wayne Abraham, AIG Africa CEO is to join CEO’s from across South African businesses at the 702 Sun International CEO Sleepout at the JSE on the night of the 18th June to experience what it’s truly like to be homeless and sleep on the pavement. With only a piece of cardboard, a sleeping bag and a bowl of soup for the night he joins the ranks of many top business leaders in the fight against homelessness in our country while raising funds for The Girls and Boys Town Foundation.
“There’s nothing like walking in another man’s shoes to truly experience what numerous adults and children go through many days of their lives. The 18th June is traditionally the coldest night of the year so this will also remind me to appreciate all my home comforts that it’s so easy to take for granted”, says Abraham.
Abraham is also encouraging other leaders in the insurance industry to join him at the Sleepout supporting a very worthy cause. “I think this will be a life changing experience for me personally and while I’m not sure I can say that I’m looking forward to the cold weather, I know that it will be a time I will always remember and will change my outlook even further on those less fortunate in this world.” he concludes.
Not all of us are CEO’s who can make a massive difference to the lives of children in need through a CEO Sleepout. However all of us can make a difference in our own modest way and ensure that children will go to bed and to school with a tummy full of wholesome home cooked food.
We challenge you to join the #Dare2Care campaign in aid of 1116 abused, neglected, abandoned or orphaned children from the Johannesburg, Soweto and the East Rand areas, who are in the care of Abraham Kriel Childcare.
